Blue Sole Freediving

One Breath… enjoy the moment

Welcome to Blue Sole Freediving

Hello and welcome to Blue Sole Freediving Club. We are a friendly bunch of freedivers based out of the Dolphin Leisure Centre, Poole, Dorset, BH15 1TN.

We welcome any freedivers over 18 years old with a recognised freediving qualification from agencies such as AIDA, SSI, PADI or Molchanov. If you don’t yet have a freediving qualification, please check out www.freedive.life for courses on the south coast.

Club Nights

We run sessions every Tuesday, open to all, subject to space and prior booking.

Tuesdays

For beginners to advanced, the sessions focus on improving comfort in the water, finning technique, static’s, dynamic’s, buddy safety, games and fitness.

Training Activities

Improving Technique

Club members are on hand to share tips, check your finning technique, your turns, body position etc. We also have a GoPro available from time to time so we can film you and show you your performance.

Static Apnea

Static apnea is a pool discipline in which a freediver holds their breath face down in the water for as long as possible while their face is under water and their body is floating on the surface.

Dynamic Apnea

Includes a number of pool disciplines

    • DYN – Dynamic With Fins
    • DNF – Dynamic No Fins

In each case you hold your breath and swim horizontal under the water.

Buddy Safety

When buddied correctly pool freediving is a safe sport, so we carry out buddy training to ensure that each member can safely buddy other members.

Games

Games are a great way to improve breath hold and have some fun at the end of the session, so these are incorporate into training.

Fitness

Relaxation is typically more important that fitness in freediving however a basic level of fitness is required so we incorporate drills focused on fitness into our weekly sessions

What are the benefits of freediving?

Meeting fun people

Freediving is a great opportunity to meet with other people, make friends and share adventures.

Exploring Lakes and Oceans

With freediving all you just is a mask, snorkel, fins, a weight belt and maybe a wetsuit and your free to explore kelp forests, quarries and shipwrecks all located on the south coast.

Calming & Restorative

When freediving you live in the moment the stresses of life wash away, and moving through the water helps to ease muscles from our often sedimentary lives.

Water Confidence and Safety

Once you learn to freedive you learn how to relax in the water, and feel confident in your breath hold. For example if your a surfer then knowing you can comfortably hold your breath in the waves will stop you from panicking.
